For years, I watched students proudly walk across the high school graduation stage. Their families cheered, their teachers celebrated, and everyone honored the completion of an important chapter.
Then I would ask, “What are you going to do next?”
Too many students answered, “I don’t know.”
That upset me. These young people had been in school since preschool and kindergarten. They completed elementary school, middle school, and high school, yet many were preparing to enter adulthood without a clear plan for their future.
I knew they had gifts, dreams, and potential. I wanted to help them connect those gifts to a direction they could pursue with confidence.
So I made a choice: if I could see the problem, I would help create a solution.
That decision led me to write Training for Triumph, a book now approaching 10,000 copies sold. It shares lessons about preparation, discipline, resilience, faith, and leadership. But I wanted students to do more than read the message. I wanted them to apply it to their own lives.
That is why I created a curriculum and workbook to go alongside the book. Together, these resources help students identify their strengths, establish goals, make intentional decisions, and create their own life blueprint.
Every student does not need to have their entire life figured out at eighteen. They deserve the guidance and confidence to take an intentional next step, whether that means college, trade school, the military, entrepreneurship, athletics, or entering the workforce.
I wanted students to cross the stage with a diploma in one hand and a plan for their future in the other.
Today, thousands of students across the world have received tools to help them prepare for what comes next. The greatest reward is watching a student move from “I don’t know” to “I have a plan.”
What once made me upset now gives me purpose. I will continue working with schools, educators, families, and communities to help more young people discover who they are and prepare for where they want to go.
When you see a problem, find a solution. When you find a solution, put it to work. Someone’s future may be changed because you chose to act.
Preparation Breeds Greatness.
